OUR STORY

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. Croatia House emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2017, we’re an organisation driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The idea of Hrvatska kuća was born a few years ago, when; Dr Damir Kušen (Croatian Ambassador to Australia), Hrvoje Petrušić (Croatian Consul General in Sydney) and Ned Tičić (Croatia House President); began talking about the need for an organisation that would promote Croatian arts to Australian audiences, as well as act as a hub for Croatian and Australian performing and visual artists, to exchange ideas, collaborate and present their work internationally.

After several photographic exhibitions on show at Canada Bay City Library (My View of Zagreb), Macquarie University (Bribir), Campeltown City Art Centre (Zagreb Photo Club), Hurstville City Civic Centre (City of Split by Boris Kragić) and Children’s Film Festival at Hurstville City Civic Centre, The Doll is the first theatre play produced by Croatia House. We believe that this humble play will open doors for many more projects and productions, and that Croatia House will thrive and grow into a successful visual and performing arts organisation in the years to come.
